Self-Blessing
The Self-Blessing rite is to be preformed after the altar is set, but before entering ritual space. I wrote this script to incorporate the five senses of Sight, Taste, Touch, Smell, and Hearing, and also four parts of self, Heart, Mind, Body, and Spirit.
SELF-BLESSING
Dip the index and middle finger of your right hand into the salt-water and anoint the indicated body part, speaking the appropriate blessing. Renew the water after each.
BLESS ME, WISE ONES, FOR I AM YOUR CHILD
Anoint hands
BLESSÈD BE MY HANDS THAT I MAY PERFORM YOUR WORKS
Anoint mouth
BLESSÈD BE MY MOUTH THAT I MAY SPEAK YOUR NAMES
Anoint ears
BLESSÈD BE MY EARS THAT I MAY HEAR YOUR VOICE WITHIN ME
Anoint nose
BLESSÈD BE MY NOSE THAT I MAY BREATHE YOUR ESSENCE
Anoint eyes
BLESSÈD BE MY EYES THAT I MAY SEE YOUR PATH
Anoint forehead
BLESSÈD BE MY MIND THAT I MAY ALWAYS LEARN
Anoint heart
BLESSÈD BE MY HEART THAT I MAY SHARE IN YOUR LOVE
Anoint loins
BLESSÈD BE MY LOINS THAT I MAY BRING FORTH LIFE AND JOY
Anoint feet
BLESSÈD BE MY FEET THAT I MAY WALK IN YOUR WAYS
Take a moment to breathe deeply, gather yourself, ground and center, meditate briefly, or whatever else you feel you need to do to prepare for the work at hand. When you are ready, proceed to t the ritual site.
